Whiskers and Whimsy Inc., operating as Whiskers & Whimsy, respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information when you visit our websites, shop online, visit our Calgary studio, contact us or use our services.

Our online store is powered by Shopify. Shopify processes personal information needed to provide the storefront, checkout, payment and related services. You can learn more in Shopify's Consumer Privacy Policy at https://privacy.shopify.com/en.

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Contact information, such as your name, email address, phone number, billing address and delivery address.
  • Order information, such as products purchased, gift-card activity, pickup or delivery selections, transaction history, returns, cancellations and customer-service requests.
  • Payment and transaction information. Payment-card details are generally processed by Shopify and its payment providers rather than stored directly by us.
  • Account information, such as login details, preferences and saved settings, if customer accounts are available.
  • Communications you send to us, including email, telephone, contact-form and appointment-form submissions.
  • Device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser, device type, pages viewed, referring page, approximate location and interactions with our websites.

HOW WE COLLECT INFORMATION

We collect personal information:

  • Directly from you when you place an order, create an account, request an appointment, submit a form, contact us or visit the studio.
  • Automatically through Shopify, cookies and similar technologies when you use our websites.
  • From service providers that help us operate our store, process payments, prevent fraud, analyze website use, fulfill orders or deliver products.

HOW WE USE PERSONAL INFORMATION

  • Process payments, orders, cancellations, refunds, deliveries and studio pickups.

COOKIES AND GOOGLE ANALYTICS

Shopify and our websites use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to operate the store, remember preferences, protect checkout and understand website use.

We use Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors find and use our websites. Google Analytics may collect information such as IP address, device and browser information, approximate location, referring pages, pages viewed and interaction data. Google processes this information according to its own privacy practices, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

We do not currently use Meta or Facebook tracking pixels. If our analytics or advertising practices materially change, we will update this policy and our consent tools where required.

You can manage cookies through your browser and through any privacy or cookie controls made available on our websites. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent parts of the online store from working properly.

HOW WE DISCLOSE INFORMATION

We may disclose personal information when reasonably necessary to:

  • Shopify and payment providers that operate and secure our online store and checkout.
  • Delivery companies, fulfillment providers and pickup services that complete your order.
  • Google Analytics and technology providers that host, maintain, secure or analyze our services.
  • Professional advisers, insurers, accountants, auditors and legal counsel.
  • Government agencies, regulators, courts or law-enforcement authorities when required or permitted by law.
  • A purchaser or successor in connection with a proposed or completed sale, financing, merger or reorganization of our business, subject to appropriate protections.

We do not sell or rent customer personal information in the ordinary meaning of those terms.

INFORMATION PROCESSED OUTSIDE CANADA

Shopify, Google and other service providers may process or store personal information outside Canada, including in the United States and other countries. Information processed in another country may be subject to that country's laws and lawful access by its courts, governments or law-enforcement authorities.

RETENTION AND SECURITY

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including completing transactions, maintaining appropriate business records, meeting legal obligations, resolving disputes and enforcing agreements.

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No security measure or method of transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS

Subject to applicable law, you may ask to:

  • Withdraw or change consent, where consent is the basis for processing.

Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act applies to many of our privacy practices. Federal privacy law may also apply to some interprovincial or international transactions.

CHILDREN

Our services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information may contact us to request its deletion.

THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES

Our websites may link to websites operated by other organizations. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for those websites.
